Costello provided services to widen a 3.98-mile section of Spring Branch Road from Old Dobbin-Plantersville Road to the Precinct 1 Boundary at Landrum Creek. Engineering services include limited topographical survey, roadway design, drainage design (regraded ditch sections, culvert design/replacement, SW3P), striping and signing, traffic control plans, SWP3 plans, and detour plans for the widening of Spring Branch Road from an 18’-20’ wide roadway with no shoulders to a 22’ wide roadway with 1’-2’ shoulders on each side.

This project was designed in a very tight area using a prescriptive right-of-way (fence line to fence line). Ditches needed to maintain a maximum slope of 3:1 in steep drainage areas. The project was designed to construct in four phases by closing off sections of Spring Branch Road between residential intersections. The existing 8” pavement was pulverized, reworked with a new base, and spread out to the roadway width. Culverts needing repair were replaced with new pipes. Residential driveways were reconstructed and improved along the roadway. Striping and signage were updated to increase visibility and safety, especially at the horizontal curves near Landrum Creek.
