Costello was hired to provide remote data collection and mapping of assets located on the Houston Oaks Country Club property, consisting of 350 acres.
A geospatial database was prepared of all utilities, including storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water lines, electric, gas, fiber optic, and approximately 1,000 trees. A laser range finder was utilized for selected portions of the data collection effort to maximize efficiency and minimize the cost to the client.
Aerial imagery was captured using a drone to provide more recent and higher resolution images than available through government sources. The aerial photos were georeferenced and processed for optimum performance when viewing from a web browser or mobile device.
Costello developed a web-based mapping application to display the data configured for deployment to the Client’s mobile devices.
The purpose of the database was to provide the Owner’s contractors with a mobile application used to locate the mapped assets while performing construction activities. On-site training and technical support were included. ESRI ArcMap, ArcPro, ArcGIS Online, ESRI mobile apps, and Trimble TerraFlex were utilized for this project.
