GIS Services
CI’s GIS staff has over 20 years of implementation and management experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). GIS technology is used to store, retrieve, map, and analyze multiple forms of data from a spatial context such as road networks, subdivision plats, flood plains, governmental agency boundaries, aerial photography, etc. This data can be entered into GIS and analyzed to discover how each layer relates to one another.
CI’s GIS staff provides the following services ranging from stand-alone viewers to enterprise-wide GIS solutions:
- Data capture and conversion
- Product enhancement
- Needs assessment
- System design
- System implementation
Listed below are a few examples of typical GIS projects:
- Transportation Corridor Studies – Land use patterns, environmental data, topography, and population density information may be input into GIS for locating potential transportation corridors, or the need for road upgrades and widenings.
- Facility Mapping and Management – Infrastructure such as water, wastewater, and storm systems, electrical networks, phone lines, gas lines, etc. can be entered into GIS for data management, work order systems, or locational mapping.
- Land Development Feasibility Studies – Aerial photos, wetlands data, flood plain data, and transportation networks, etc. may be input into GIS to facilitate decision making in land acquisitions and real estate development.
- Flood Plain Mapping – Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling may be input into a GIS system to provide three-dimensional analyses of water courses.
