Traffic Engineering Experience
Katy Main Street Roundabout
Costello prepared the construction plans for the WoodCreek Pin Oak Development, which is an 86-acre commercial/retail park located in Katy, Texas. This project included plans for installing concrete pavement, waterlines, sanitary sewer and drainage improvements. Costello developed the geometrics, signing and pavement markings for installing a 2-lane roundabout interchange at the intersection of Main Street and Nelson Way. This was developed within a limited right-of-way and accommodates the four approaches of these two 4-lane roads.
Katy Mills Boulevard
Costello was hired to prepare roadway plans for the extension of Katy Mills Boulevard for Market Place Drive to Katy Mills Circle. As part of these improvements, the City of Katy requested that a traffic signal warrant be performed at the new intersection. Costello conducted the traffic data collection, performed the traffic signal warrant analysis, and prepared a traffic study report for this intersection. A signal was warranted for this location and we were retained to prepare the design plans, specifications, estimates, bid documents, and construction phase services.
Costello, as part of a project team, prepared the traffic control plans and the traffic signal designs for three intersections as part of the reconstruction of Washington Boulevard in Beaumont, Texas. The scope of the project involved reconstructing 1.5 miles of existing 4-lane asphalt roadway to a 5-lane concrete facility between the IH 10 northbound frontage road and Houston Avenue. The signal designs replaced the three existing span wire traffic signals with new cantilever mast arm signal installations.
